1991 evinrude 225. shaft wont come loose.

I have a 1991 evinrude 225 that will not let the foot come loose. Engine cranks and trickles water. Make offer. Located in kershaw, sc.

Wow I had the same motor with the same issue!! Gave to BS he never got it apart and sold it the way it was to some guy.
Was a great running motor if not for that.

Kills me... lol I can't get a $50 part on a motor that would be worth $2000 or more if running, but is now worthless because the shaft won't come loose... I have a buyer coming tomorrow.

Out of curiosity, what components do you think are seized together?

The only way is to cut the mid section open to access the LU shaft, then attach pipe strap on the shaft and sledge it off assuming you don't peel the splines off the crank in the process. Sorry this really sucks ..I have to pull mine for an annual inspection I can only hope all is well..

Here is picture of a motor I am working on the splines you see is connected directly to the crankshaft. Hopefully this is the issue in question ..

did you ever try the removing the powerhead deal? that has always worked out for me. use the boat as weight to pull them apart plus it will let you oil and heat the shafts if needed.

the one pictured above will seize too if you don't install the o-ring as needed.
