Electronic ignition for Mercruiser 170 (1985)?

Pertronix 2 w/Flamethrower 2 coil and 8mm plug wires. I also opened plug gaps to .045. Good starts and will idle smoothly at 500 to 550 rpm.

    1981 Wellcraft V20 with I/O

Welcome Rook, Cfelton is spot on with performance numbers. 38-42mph WOT is normal and a nice 25-27 cruise. 45-50 ain't happenin. But who cares still a nice solid economical performer. 470 is a good engine you just need to learn its quirks as with any other, esp. if you do your own wrench turnin...

Picked up a used 19p alum. prop a couple weeks ago and ran great. 4300rpm wot & 36 mph in slight chop in a short run, engine sounded happy. Bad news- got home checked prop and found a 1" crack in a blade oh well I guess the rompin stompin fire breathing 470 was more than it could stand lolol...

As far as temps I have not saw more than 170 at wot. with a 4" exchanger and new water pump. Still playing with props...
