repowering my V20. need some advice

I have never heard of 26" shafts either however, if they DO exist, you could probably mount them in the top holes and be okay (for a single engine). I built my transom to 25" them mounted my engine in the second mounting hole which probabaly raised the engine 1-2 inches. Also I have seen and...

    Prop Question

The Yamaha Tech line told me that the one like you are describing are called "Black Steel" which have "SOME"" stainless in them. They paint the prop to keep them from rusting, but we all know what happens when the paint wears off. Yamaha polished stainless props cost the same so I don't know...

    A few transom questions

Macajoe I did not originate this thread, I was just confirming your approach. I didn't even know about this site until after I had repaired my transom and had my V20 on the water. And my repair streched out over a 2-3 month period. Sorry if I mislead you with my reply. I sure wish I HAD...

    A few transom questions

I did as mentioned and drilled a small hole just above the drain plug and a strong stream of water came out of my transom. I cut the back out of mine and did the dirty work, then bought the beer for a friend that does fiberglass work for a living to finish the repair. He used 3/4 marine...

    tide chart

You can also use "tidesandcurrent.noaa.gov". I use this one in my area and it is pretty accurate.

    New Dash

Blue Sea panels are the only way to go. You can get some that have push button circuit breakers with rubber boots that seem to hold up fine.

    new v20 owner

Welcome to the site. I am a new member of the site as well and have only had mine in the water for a year now. They do ride well and my friends prefer to ride on my boat instead of newer more expensive boats. So far in my area, mine is the only one that I have seen. If I come across or dig...

Saddle tanks make offer 1976 v20

I removed and cleaned my tanks just over 1 year ago when I was replacing the transom and repowering and re-wiring (preparing for the first splash). I did not remove the pick up tubes but I did inspect the inside of the tanks and they looked good. The tags on the tanks listed a capacity of 20...

Saddle tanks make offer 1976 v20

What are your new plans for fuel tanks? I have the same tanks and I am thinking of checking and/or changing my fuel pick up tubes. The last time I ran a tank empty, it only took 17 gallons to fill up the 20 gallon tank.

    Motor Proformane 1982 fish cc

Thanks for the info. I checked the performance data on a Hydro-Sport 202 DC that had a test weight of 4,405lbs. Looks like top end was 40 mph (which is plenty) and 4 mpg at cruising speed (which is my main goal). Any idea if this weight would be consistent to a 1975 v-20 with an F-150? Also...

    Motor Proformane 1982 fish cc

I have the same questions about the Mileage on the 150 four strokes. I am planning on repowering and I am leaning towards the Yamaha. Does anyone out there have an f-150 and if so what is the miles per gallon and the miles per hour? I pieced my 1975 V-20 together and used a 1996 Johnson 225...

    Prop slip??

Take the prop off of the lower unit and take a picture or look at the back side of the prop where you can see the hub. A lot of the time if the hub has spun you can see where the rubber is torn. Post a picture of the backside and I can probably tell.
