How do you get the splatter finish like in the Carolina Skiff? I would like to have that in my V20.

    Boat Porn

Destroyer is right on. Accomplish small goals at a time. I almost gave up on my rebuild when I discovered gel coat blisters. But I wont let it get the best of me. Right now I am removing the rest of the bottom paint. Just seeing my hull mostly white for the first time got me motivated. Dont be...

Gel Coat or Paint on fiberglass

Have you considered using an epoxy paint such as Interlux Perfection? I used the Perfection on a 250 Sportsman and it held up better than all the other paints we used. My plan is to use Perfection on my V20 above waterline and use VC Epoxy on the bottom. Shoot the floor with UPOL RAPTOR bedliner...

Gel Coat or Paint on fiberglass

unless you are laying gelcoat in a mold you will have to work very hard to achieve a smooth finish. It will not lay like paint. You have to sand and sand and then sand some more. It is a ton of work. I have heard you can roll wax paper over the gel coat while it is wet and wont have to sand as much.

    Upcoming Mass trip......

We have a ship called the Mass just outside Pensacola Pass. It was an accidental sinking. She has taken a few other boats with her turret that is just barely below water. I plan to fish around it on my yak when I get it so I will be in Mass too lol

    1982 Wellcraft 18 FISHERMAN

I bought this boat last year. Its a 1982 Wellcraft 18 Fisherman. I discovered stringer rot and every one needs to be replaced. The previous owner replaced the transom and cut the cap in half to access the transom. They did a halfass job repairing it. The cap needs to be repaired correctly and it...

    New Member, Quick question.

I remember seeing a bracketed 18 Fisherman at a buddies house. I just text him and he said it rides sweet and drafts 8 to 10 inches of water. He has a 135 Johnrude on it. Batteries are in the stern and fuel tank is under the console which is where Wellcraft put all of them. no complaints.

    New Member, Quick question.

I will agree with Willy. Seatrial it. Get a buddy to go with you and y'all let the broker run the boat and move around the boat and see how she acts. definitely put some weight on the stern while cruising.

Great link to bedding your boats hardware

I saw it on a charter boat a few years back and thought it was a good idea. I was even thinking about recessing my flush mount rod holders and fairing them out. :sly:

Great link to bedding your boats hardware

My rear cleats will be attached to the transom. Seeing as how I do not want bolts and nuts sticking out my transom I plan to screw the cleats to the transom and bed in epoxy. But I can see the butyl tapes use on non structural components. Maybe not rod holders. I have ripped many out so mine...

Great link to bedding your boats hardware

I am pretty good at making a mess with butyl tape on a steel building roof so I imagine it would be even worse with the boat. You can also bed hardware with epoxy but it would be considered permanent.

    Cap is off

Question. My cap has a section by the helm on each side where it steps out about three inches and is about thirty inches tall and about thirty six inches long. Is this to allow clearance for the curve in the hull? I want to remove it.

    Va Beach v20 project

I like the ingenuity there Kracker. That will look nice when done. Heck I just realised that I can start building my console and leaning post if I go ahead and shorten my cuddy and get it glassed.

    narrowing my choices....

They are MOOG. That is all I will put under my truck. I was running LT265/75R16E tires and now running LT285/75R16E tires. All on stock steel wheels.

    narrowing my choices....

I replace pitman and idler arms in my GMC every year. Make sure you buy a lifetime warranty product. My truck is a 2wd and has hardly been offroad since I quit hunting three years ago and still eats front end parts. I know dads F150 has been very reliable. Both are good trucks and I would not...
