    V-20 Enclosure

The zippers sure can be replaced. I do it all the time. It's not hard but you need a machine capable of sewing through many layers of fabric. Also you need to mark the start and ending point etc.

    V-20 Enclosure

The sewing machine is a custom 18" long arm machine by Sailrite set up with a MC-SCR power system. The 18" under the arm makes working with clear vinyl panels so much easier. There are many people that sell them. You can get cheap china made units or better units made in Japan like this 18"...

    V-20 Enclosure

Thanks Destroyer! I really enjoying doing this type of work. The correct sewing machine and having it set up correctly is half the battle I'm still learning stuff about how to make things easier and short cuts etc. I'm still learning stuff at my day job and I've been doing that job for...

    Matthew claims the Pipe Dream

That's a sisu. They had two different molds. One was a hard chine and the other a soft chine. Peter Brown built these boats in NH for a number of years. The hard chine model was built/modifed by Rosborough in Nova Scotia. Well built boats but tender side to side kind of like a sail boat. When...

    A few years back.

Great post Destroyer! Information shared here on V 20 has helped me with not only the Wellcraft but other boats also.

Package is on it's way! Should be there Monday! Replaced the clear vinyl on the front/windshield panel. I found some scrap pieces under the work table. They're not perfect but usable. I had to split the windshsield into 3 pieces to make the scraps work. Used coil zippers in between the panels...

    What are you listening to?

WOW Ferm! That was awesome! I was hoping the guy on the alto sax was going to make that thing growl. I think the guy on the T-bone did get that growl thing. I never knew that could be done on a T-bone.

    V-20 Enclosure

I usually use 30 gauge rolled vinyl on smaller boats like the V 20. The thicker 40 gauge is nice but it's tough to roll up. However it being thicker means the plasticize in the vinyl will hold up better over time. You can spend a little or a lot on vinyl. rolled 30 gauge is roughly $20 a yard...

Destroyer doesn't think the curtains will work for him. Anyone else have a factory bimini that might have some use for these curtains?

I found the curtains down in the shop in a storage box. The side curtains are usable but not perfect. They need a good cleaning. Here are a couple of pic. The front curtain has a small hole in the clear vinyl and probably should be replaced. The front curtain doesn't have the split for the...

Destroyer, Do you have a factory bimini top? I did have a complete enclosure for a factory top. Not sure if I still have it down in the basement in the shop but I will take a look. It came off our 91 V. Not sure if the zippers would match up etc. I will take a look next time I'm down in the...

    Trailer tire info,need some insight

I bought 4 galvy rims and tires from etrailer. Pretty sure they are cheap china made junk (loadstar??). They made the trip to FL in back no troubles. When I got home I put the old tires and rims back on the trailer and put the new set in the basement to keep from getting dry rot in the sun. BTW...

    Cushions!

$80 is a great price!! You might consider replacing the zippers. Trying to get the cushion cover material under the foot of the sewing machine with the foam inside is going to be pretty tough. It's not impossible but you might be disappointed in the finished job. To do the zippers the foam...

    Took a ride yesterday

I've spent plenty of time on a 2690 Glacier Bay cat with twin 150 four stroke yamaha's my BIL bought new. In a rear quarter sea or full beam sea it can be seriously dangerous. Not for me. Give me a mono hull anyday. Sure the cat hulls run well in a head sea but you have to turn around sometime...

    Horns that are not crap?

Sometimes I think law enforcement forget that the laws are put in place to keep people safe not to generate funds for the gov't. I try to keep a few extra whistle around. I hang one on the helm of every boat just in case we get boarded...

    Horns that are not crap?

Hahaha import car.....so true!! Most important is it works if you get boarded by law enforcement. I carry a air can on the Bertram because both horns have rusted to crap and a whistle on the RIB and V 20. I know a good friends wife got a ticket for not having a whistle on a 13' Whaler inside...
