I got some filleting material in that I need to filet the inner transom skin back in and to help fillet the tabs that I will leave up from the old stringer glass. Hopefully I can get some work done soon. It's tough right now because only time to work is before the fronts pass.

its going slow, working is eating up a lot of my time. The cool weather isn't helping either. I still need to removed some old wood from the transom and grind some spots down so I can glass my inner transom skin in so then I can pour my arjay.

I have heard of the check valve for the air side of an optimax be called a pulse valve. Not anything called that on a carbed merc. Sounds like you might need to clean the carbs and change the plugs.

I was able to get the inner all prepped. I put a layer of 1708 over the skin to stiffen it and to allow me to fit it in the hull a little better.

I would think that 1/2 inch PT ply, that was glassed and then faired and painted would be awesome. Maybe even 1/4 so you could put some sort of shape to it if you needed to.

I don't need new ones now, I might rebuild it after next year and trying to see if a reman would be cheaper.

so you can remove the o rings and seals from the plates? I didn't know that. I know the 2000 and newer ones you just replace the o rings and outer gasket o ring.

I might be picking up a opti 135 on the cheap but I know from working on them that they have the solid head gaskets and they are like 400 per now. Did anyone ever create a cheaper alternative to them? The block should be the same as the 2000 and newers, would just buying used newer style heads...
