If its the standard 470 merc, than yes it does get you around. Gets up and planes just fine. Sure some of the big horsepower outboards go faster. I would be leery of the shifter cable adjustment thing. Maybe he put the drive on and not have the linkage set up properly? Let's let other...

there's a lake in NH where everyone has a pontoon boat. A guy took the top off a speed boat and put a "pontoon top" on it. Granted it is not really a real pontoon boat, but it does go fast. rkc
