Destroer--exactly was I was trying to say--you said it much clearer. Maybe you need the 6.2 turbo charged outboard--rated at 557HP---that will move her for ya.

A 9.9 will move her--a 20 would work as well--but bigger and harder to store or mount on the boat. The difference in speed would probabley be negligble between the 2 engines--

Is the boat you are using the one in your avatar? A 20 hp is probably more than you need--it is just a back up--a 9.9 would probably do the job, after all it sounds like a back up and it is just a back up that will get you in to somewhere safe. If you do not want a back up/repatition on board...

Here in the NW--I run the lakes without my kicker quite often--but on the saltwater--the kicker is always on the boat with fresh gas and ready to go, just to get me in if needed--and it will happen sooner or later--I have used it several times over 35 years of boating---Crap happens.

I have O straps on my top--all stainless bows and quick releases to put top up. As for towing with the top up---I do not do it if I am getting on a highway--you do not see it now--but you will see excessive wear on your top if you leave up the side curtians and top etc going down the freeway...

You bet you can shove the bow down with your motor, at what cost to the transom and your fuel burn. I put on the Lennco electric tabs and whined about the money it cost as well(they where less than the bennett's) but after a couple trips out and using them offshore--i would not want this boat...

bgreen---as I had told you--If I had to redo my engine choice--I would have done the 175 preferably or 200 in the small block version for the boat. My 200HO weighs 496 with the longshaft. That is why the smaller block and that either of those small blocks will push that boat in the 40's...

Yes--that is a cox super loader---with some mods---No more rollers--I made a change over to bunks---Much easier and faster to load--straight everytime 1rst time.

Have 10 rod holders up top now. Use the outer 2 spun out as outer troll poles for tuna. Also have 4 in the hull and 6 agianst the transom and can add a pole in a holder to the gut board. Waiting for the radar still--spent that money on the hyd steering and the arch. Put a GPS chart plotter in...
