Mine is a '78 and it has a centerline tank. Are these custom hoses or can you get it at any marine supply store? Carl

    Fuel fill hose

Has anyone replaced the hose from the fill cap to the fuel tank? The hose is disintigrating where it connects to the tank top. I plan on replacing it. Has anyone done it? Any tips - tricks etc. Thanks in advance. Carl

    Mercury Outboards

Thanks for the input. I am looking at new and used motors right now. Mostly 150's and 175's, but it's good to know that the 135 works too.

    Repowered with 200hp

CT_v-20, That's a pretty good price on a new engine. Are you in Connecticut? Where did you get that deal? I am looking for a new 150 as well and most prices are 8K plus for new. Does he have any more like that? Thanks Carl

    Mercury Outboards

Thanks folks, I kinda thought the same thing. I did call a Mercury dealer and he said it was more in the marketing than anything else. He said a flushing connection may be in a different spot, but all mercury engines are designed to be run in saltwater with no adverse effects. I am going to...

    Mercury Outboards

Any experience here with Mercury outboards? The current engine is blown and I am going to repower with a new engine. The mercury controls are still good so I am planning on staying with a Mercury. I've noticed that Mercury has a saltwater series of enignes - basically the same as the regualr...

    Trailer winch

I was wondering what everyone uses on their trailer winches either cable or strap. I have a v20 steplift that weighs 1920 # dry I figure another 1000 # or so with an engine and fuel etc. I just purchesed a 2 speed winch rated for 3200 #. I was also wondering how long does it need to be? Thanks...

    jackplates

All I know is that the guy's grandson was using the boat and didn't add the two stroke oil, which made short work of the power head. The old man kept the boat for use by his family. He bought the boat used, but it was fairly new. The boat is a '78. He repowered it in 1986 with the motor that is...

    jackplates

Thanks guys, I kinda was thinking along those same lines about actually increasing the load on the transom since the engine is not directly hung on the transom but a distance from it. I wanted to make sure I wasn't over analyzing the problem. I will continue to look for a 20" shaft. I am...

    jackplates

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site, (thanks to macojoe) I recently came into a 1978 steplift v-20. It needs new power. The engine on it is blown. Due to the shape of the transom the boat requires an engine with a 20" shaft length, vs 25" for most marine outboards. My question today is -- does...
