    Unable to turn motor

My motor now turns. It took about 2 hours of manipulating it and spraying penetrating oil in it until it was free. Then I was able to put a whole bunch of grease in the tube and turned the wheel to work the grease all the way through. I appreciate all the input and advice from everyone. It...

    Unable to turn motor

tsubaki - you just hit the nail on the head. That is one thing I did not do yesterday and the first thing today. I disconnected the steering arm from the yoke or tiller or whatever it is called and the motor turned smoothly. The problem is in the tilt tube. The steering arm will not budge...

    Unable to turn motor

I pumped the grease in and tried to move it with no success yesterday. I also put some penetrating oil on the top and hope it works. I am about to go check on it again. I think the 2nd grease fitting is a great idea. I will try the heat idea also. Do you think a benzomatic type of...

    Unable to turn motor

I removed the lower unit today to change the water pump and realized that the motor would not turn. I assumed the problem was in the cable so I disconnected the nut from the bracket and the steering wheel turned with no problem. The motor, however does not budge. I greased all the fittings...

Looking for some odd or funny boat names...

My v is named 'PANARU'. Here's the story as told to me by the previous owner's grandson-inlaw. The old man who sold me the boat grew up in a poor italian family. They could only afford the bread on the "bottom shelf" which I have known to be called 'brown bread', but this man called it...

    High voltage over 3500 rpms

I had time this weekend to dig into my voltage issue. I have concluded my motor does not have a voltage regulator. It has a rectifier - but no regulator. What is the right thing to do? Should I add a regulator, or another battery just to run the electronics? Or something else? Again - any...

    Pirates and Maersk Alabama

I am wondering what all of you think of the current situation off the coast of Somalia with a US citizen being held by pirates and the fact that a US flag ship was attached? Is it another test of our president or just a coincidence?

Back to back seat pictures wanted.

I installed a new Wise back to back seat this time last year. With two little kids, it was a must. They also like the "lounging" aspect of it. Here are a few pics. Also, you have a bit more storage under the seats as well. The pics are blue because the tarp is still on the boat.

    Questions on GPS

I pulled the string today and purchased a GPS. I thought I would get the Garmin 420, but the mfg rep convinced me to spend an additional $40 and step up to the 440 unit. She said that no additional chips or cards are needed since there is a tremendous amount of data preloaded on this unit...

    High voltage over 3500 rpms

A problem I experienced last season - When running around 3500 rpms or higher, my garmin fishfinder (160 red) would flash a message stating the voltage was too high and within a few seconds would shut itself off. It is the only electroninc equipment I have onboard so I don't have anything...
