Yes, two 62" aluminum "C" channel's that secure to each side of the hatch opening with 4 s/s #6 oval head screws each side. My restored 74 V-20 had what you described. You remove the V-21 hatch as one assembly.

The wrist breaking bit happens when the bit goes through that tough as chit carpet!

Start the pilot hole with a sharp 3/8" bit. I used a fine tooth wood blade in the jigsaw. I went through 2 of them. Some of the carpet loosend under so I just used 3m Adhesive spray to secure.
