This may be the wrong thread but it good

I have used light machine oil and dedicated reel oil on reel bearings and my reels have never complained about the difference. I also use a light coating of marine grease on the gears and internal metal parts. Good idea to periodically open reels up and inspect for corrosion.

    Marvel mystery oil

I've never used mystery oil but am curious if it would be good for anything in a 2 stroke? I do however use STA-BIL Storage Fuel Stabilizer with every gallon because I never know how long the boat will sit for and need the gas to stay fresh.

    Enricher valve

I have a similar merc 150 2s, has yours always been hard to start or did it just start acting up? Mine is hard to start after sitting for a few weeks, but once warmed up it restarts fine. I have the older controls but for cold starts first prime the fuel bulb, raise advance lever, crank with key...

    This doesn’t look good

Are you sure the leak is at the middle? I would suspect a leak from the end caps or from the bleed fittings that may be traveling and dripping from the middle area. Try tightening the bleed fittings slightly or end caps and see if that helps, and yes fluid can be added at the helm as needed.

I will leave it in your hands. Reely

Tackle hoarding is a disease I know too well...lol when I get the urge to buy another rod or reel I take a trip out to the garage and find an old similar one that I had forgot about and the urge usually goes away! Happy new year everyone!

    Who’s got the oldest V boat ?

Here is an interesting perspective on what killed the ETEC from Fred Kiekhaefer, the former president of Mercury Racing: But there is much more to the story of the demise of Evinrude than COVID-19 economics. For decades, the brand struggled to find its footing with its two-stroke offerings...

New Minn Kota Riptide Terrova 80 lb. Thrust, 60" Shaft, Installed

Thanks, I am loving it already! I was very reluctant to spend as much on a trolling motor as the boat is probably worth but I was sure tired on anchoring in the ocean and almost always missing the fishing spot and having to re anchor several times. I've only been out once so far and it is worth...

New Minn Kota Riptide Terrova 80 lb. Thrust, 60" Shaft, Installed

Recently added the Minn Kota Riptide Terrova 80 lb. Thrust, 60" Shaft, Wireless Remote to my 1989 V20. This is not the newer brushless Quest model which is more expensive. This one was around $2k. Only used it once so far for ocean fishing and all I can say is Wow! The GPS spot lock is a game...

    Trim tabs

I'm using Nauticus smart tabs on my V20, 60 lbs, they work well to keep the bow down. Came with the boat and are simply and low maintenance.

    I screwed up, maybe?

I'm sure the rod boxes will come out great, post a picture if you can. I painted mine (1989 V20) with Rust-Oleum 207001 Marine Coatings Topside Paint, Quart, Oyster White. They came out decent, not perfect but I wasn't looking for perfection. My boxes were damaged in the corners and had a few...

    Questions about a windlass

windlass I added a old powerwinch windlass to my V20 that I found on craigslist for $100 but have not had the chance to try it yet. It gets a little in the way of the top sliding door and I had to angle it a bit to use with an existing anchor roller I had. It also came with a foot switch I...
