    Almost

The weather finally gave us a break and we got the boat ready to get wet. :time: The only thing left is the bottom paint and that will be done this week, if we can get rid of the rain and one warm day in the high 50's. :rain:

    Old Orchard Lighthouse

We lost the Old Orchard Light to Sandy. It's been there since the 1890's, what a shame. It was a great, EARLY Striper spot and when the Blues moved in, big Blues for your taking.

    Black fishing

We caught over 40 fish with not one keeper. The closest we got was my 15 1/2 inches. We caught plenty of 14 and 13 inch fish, but nothing for the table. YES, I did return that 15 1/2" fish and it killed me. Those two inches, from 14 to 16 inches are a killer. By the way, as of November 1, 2012...

    Started Black fishing

We planned on Black fishing yesterday, we hit the first spot, nothing but one short Black, short Sea Bass, short Porgy's. We stayed there for about an hour, left for our second spot, nothing but shorts. I suggested we try some Weak fishing since they were still around. Hit the first drift and...

    Tog

I can't wait until Friday, the opening of the Black Fish season for us in NY. The regs have changed this year from 14" to 16" and that might make it a little harder to bring home a meal. :rule: Our season is from Oct 5 - Dec 14, not like you guys in NJ (lucky), who basically can fish for...

    More Porgy's

Joe called last night and wanted to know if I wanted to Porgy fish, I said most definitely. We hit the Porgy grounds around 08:30 and had fish as soon as the sinkers hit the bottom. We had a steady pick of nice keepers until the wind changed and then it died down. We drifted around, in and out...

    Gold

For the last two weeks, I was getting a lot of reports of a sick Weakfish bite in Jamaica Bay. We didn't go out last week and this past week the bite was still heavy, but the Weakfish run lasts for about only two weeks. Yesterday I was told, it wasn't as heavy as other days, but they were still...

    Porgies

Got a call last night from Joe and he wanted to know if I felt like Porgy fishing, answer was YES and today was a great day on the water. There wasn't a breeze and the no-drifts were perfect for Porgies. We had all kinds of fish all day, Blow fish, Spots, over 100 short Sea bass, the largest...

    Breezy Point

Sunday we hit the water around 8, started fishing around nine and bam right away Michael gets this real short Fluke, Sal caught the shortest, around nine inches. That's how it was until THE BIRDS ARRIVED and it was COCKTAIL TIME. Had fun with them until they left, back to the Fluke. Guess what...

    Ambrose

Hit the Ambrose Saturday morning on the out going, picked away at 20 fish, with three keepers, 20, 21, and 22 inches. Once the tide changed it died. Bait was, Snappers and Gulp, all the shorts were caught in 50+' of water and the three keepers were caught in 28', right off the channel. All the...

    Flukin' in Jamaica bay

We went out today around 09:30, saw pods of bunker, jigged some up, anchored, tried for Stripers, Nothing but Blues, stayed a little longer, nothing, so we headed for the Fluke. We started Fluke fishing around 10:30 and Sal gets his first of two keepers. A little while later, Sal gets his second...

    Jamaica Bay Fluke

We went out this morning and went to the MPB, on the Brooklyn side, outgoing tide. We picked up 14 Fluke, 12 Rockers and one Blowfish. Everything was returned safely except for the three Fluke we kept. Nothing of real great size, but all three were 20 inches. A great and fun day on the water...

    Jamaica Bay Fluke

Hit JB yesterday with Joe on his skiff the MoJoe, it was a chilly, damp rainy day, was only out for a couple of hours, started to really come down. Managed three short Fluke, two 16" and the last one a NJ keeper 17 1/2". All three were returned.

    Brooklyn Flounder

Went out with MoJoe today to try and catch a few nice Flounder in Jamaica Bay. We wound up with our limit (4) and threw back a few. The fish were between 14 inches with the biggest being 16 inches. Joe went out yesterday with the same results, except their biggest was 18 inches, the smallest was...
