    150hp ob performance survey

Hi, gents. I thought there was a thread that covered this, but I can't find it in my Searches. Those of you with or have had a 150hp outboard on your Steplift, what kind of top end and cruise speeds are you getting? If my sick 175hp Johnny doesn't survive this weekend's minor surgery, I'll be...

    Think I should buy this?

Ahoy, gents. Ever since the prognosis from the mechanic about my Johnny 175 (runs well, holes and pistons are clean, compression even, ignition wires could use preplacing, cooling water leaks, exhaust leaks, could run forever, could die the first trip) I've been keeping an eye out for a cheap...

    Interesting boat...

...inspired by Our Man Ray. Sorry if this has been posted before, I don't remember seeing it, only the Surfhunter: The Harrier 25 by Hunt Yachts. More pics at http://www.huntyachts.com/yachts_harrier25_photo.htm

    Shirt's have shipped

:-/ When chit happens, chirts don't happen. Sorry fellas, but I need two or three more days for production. Instead of printing this weekend like I planned, I had the pleasure of shop vac-ing the water coming into my basement (where my printing equipment is) every one or two hours, thanks to...

Fug.  Looks like I'm in the repower market.

Got the prognosis from the shop today on the previously unknown condition of the motor ('85 Johnny 175) that came with the boat. Good: - it starts and runs after the flywheel was replaced - compression low, but equal - lower unit/gear case good - cylinders and piston (crowns?) clean Bad: -...

    More V-20 fame

I happened to catch the end of Patriot Games with Harrison Ford. In the last scenes of the climax, the bad guys had two boats waiting at the bottom of a shoreline cliff face as getaway vehicles. The cap and transom from the stern looked very familiar. Then the flare at the front, the sharp...

    T-shirt Draft 2

Ahoy, gents. Because I like both, I think I'm going to end up doing two versions: one blue, one white. For the blues we'll just do short sleeve T's only, like a "style" T with a center-chest logo, pretty much as posted. The white version will be the logo below, large on the back with the V20...

    V20.com T-Shirts!

Now that I have your attention... ;D OK, here's a draft of the design as a little teaser. Shirt will be the blue/denim/indigo color to echo the colors of the forum, and I'm printing black and white inks, with white gradations for all the shading you see. I have a dilemma and maybe the board...

    Go EAGLES!

Well, it took four years, but da birds are finally going to the big show. If they win, I should have a lot more money for boat stuff. ;D

    Ask first, then drill...

Ahoy, gents. Bowlight is dead and I'm not getting any current through the existing wiring. Said wires also are secured somewhere I can't see and/or reach, so using the old to fish the new isn't possible. It's not as aesthetically pleasing to route the new wiring exposed, but that's not a big...

    Rewire/Panel Progress

If I can't fish, at least it's been mild enough to work on the boat. Before After I'm going to add some Taco flex trim around the panel to clean it up. There are a few chips on the edges, plus the trim should seal the panel a little better. I might even put an additional weather strip...

So this is how it is...

...take on one project and five more spring up. ;) My instrument panel re-do has turned into... Complete Re-wire Got the deck panel and starboard rodbox out, so might as well rewire the friggin' thing. There's a spaghetti trail of half abandoned and half in-service wiring that needs cleaning...

Getting ready to re-do instrument panel

Ahoy, gents Well, mechanic says he'd be much happier if I brought the boat over in Jan or Feb, so with the fairly mild fall I'm going to try to sneak in a re-do of the instrument panel, including install of new switch panel. I'm half way into The 12-volt Bible for Boats so I will have a good...

    Teak swim step

The previous owner of my '87 Steplift removed and refinished the swim step.  He didn't put it back before selling it to me, but it's just as well as I'll be putting trim tabs on and there's no room for the platform also.  As you can see, the angle of the edge that meets the transom should match...

    It's official.  She's home.

No more hounding you guys for pre-purchase advice ... ...now it'll be on refurbishing advice. ;) I already requested the Honorable Mr. Shrimpin do the gallery thing for me, so I shot a bunch of pics before it got dark to get my album started. Deal went smoothly. Seller was very easy to...
