    soft floor question

the stringes and transom are dust, literally. no need to drill any holes. the po installed a hatch in the deck just forward of the console and lined it with aluminium. not a good idea or a good job. i suspect that caused the rot. whats got me interested in doing this is 1) the hull looks near...

    Smart Tabs?

i think you will like them. ive never ran them on a v20, we have bennetts on our cuddy and they are great on that hull. my buddy put smart tabs on his old 19' proline center console and they made a huge difference. we fished that old beat up boat out here in the gulf of mexico around cat island...

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

Thanks for all the great replies guys. I mean that sincerely. But at the end of the day there was no deal to be made. I knocked about 7grand off of the price of the truck that the boat was suppose to be partial trade for simply because I don't need the truck and I'm tired of watching it set...

Winter V21 " to do list"

I live in the deep south so my seasonal preparations are a little different. The seasons I prep for are snapper season, cobia season, etc... I do tend to fish less during deer season though. But I can feel y'all's pain. It's in the low 40's out there. No way am I going outside today. It should...

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

For me the biggest benefit of the bracket would be the extra room in the boat. Planing faster is good too. But those are things that I can work around. Can't work around a motor digging in when you need to get into shallow water. Even the 150 on tbe bracket would prob too much of a trade off...

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

Anybody got a quarter, lol! Thanks for all the opinions guys. And ridgerunner, thanks for the welcome. But it's really a welcome back. I was a god (still hate using thT term) here years ago. So I know a lot of you guys, y'all just don't know me! Muhahaha

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

That's good info. And very encouraging! Do you have trim tabs on that thing? And what kinda mileage are you getting? My 225 is fi also so our numbers should be pretty close. Thanks in advance

    Lure scent

I use pro cure gel. Of all the scents I've tried it stays on longer and seems to work the best. Even on top waters like my badonk-a-donk, noticeable difference. However, at least 90% oft he fishing I do is salt water. And probably 80% of that is speckled trout, redfish and flounder. So I have no...

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

My concern is getting on and coming off of plane, the bracket changing the "pivot point" and sticking the prop into the bottom.

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

I hate to admit that, lol. I use to work for Northrop Grumman in Gulfport. But Ingalls took it over, screwed it all up and got it shut down. Now I'm in the Pascagoula yard. 2-2.5? That's what I was guessing/hoping for with the 225. It pushes my much heavier, much wider 24' chappy bout 53mph at...

    windshield parts

Look on eBay. Saw some on there last night. They weren't listed for a v20, said unknown. But they sure looked like v20 glass to me. Saw two complete sets. Can't for the life of me remember what I was searching for when I saw them

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

Thanks. You said hanging a bracket would help with the extra weight!? I thought it would make it worse. Sink the stern and raise the bow more?

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

Thanks man. I am comfortable swapping motors around. Always enjoyed building stuff. I am a ship builder by trade so it's kinda what I do... Kinda. I build warships. I'll prob run a tank or two through the mariner first. See what I think of it. What kinda economy it gets. I might be okay with...

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

Thanks for the reply. I wouldn't remove the bracket later. If I put it on I'll build the transom up just like if I'm gonna keep it. And when I seel the boat it will all stay. Only change for the sale would be a motor swap, if I do run the 225. I don't live in the country anymore. I don't have...

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess my biggest concern is gonna be the reliability/ quality of the mariner. I don't lnow not do I know anyone who know about these motors. I like tbe bracket on a smaller boat for the extra room of the full transom and it's really not that much work. Plus if it...

    Mariner 150 v/s mercury 225

Hi guys, been reading a lot and lots of great info here. And I'd like you guy opinions if I can get them. Boat is a v20 center console and I'm probably fixing to get it as a partial trade. Not sure but I think it's an 85 and it's in pretty good shape. It has a 150 mariner on it that seems to run...
