    Rod holder ?

Not a great picture but in mine the holder protrudes about 1.5" to 2" through the top of the rod box and to a lesser extent through the rear. It pretty much drains into the cockpit and a little baffle work could ensure that it completely drains into the cockpit. It sticks too far down to use a...

    My seat needs a ride!

I'm taking my pickup truck to South Kingston RI from zip 10983 on Christmas morning and returning home the following morning. Bill, assuming you can meet me around 9:00 AM in Kingston on Monday, I can get together with D sometime this week and bring it up. If you can't make that time, I can...

    Boat insurance?

Thanks D, So what would the Liberty policy cover on your boat? Damage while sitting beside the house? I would like to get away from BoatUS for all of it - damage on the water, wet towing, trailering and storage. Is Liberty capable of covering all (most?) scenarios if you wanted? I see that...

    Boat insurance?

I have had BoatUS insurance for the over 25 years. I finally needed it for a short tow a few years back and the claims process was quick and painless. I can't recall who their carrier was at the time but BoatUS switched over to Geico last year. This year I had a claim on a damaged bimini top...

    Thoughts on my flexing transom

Thanks Skunk, I'm going to get some quotes but if it's too expensive, your shortcut method sounds better than just using plates. If I go that route and basically pour half the transom do you think that will make it difficult or impossible to do a proper job down the road?

    Thoughts on my flexing transom

So I took Skunk's advice and put the motor up as far it would go and bounced with my full weight on the skeg. I'm no expert and as much as I want to remain in denial about this it looks pretty bad IMO. According to the ruler it only deflects around 1/16" of an inch but it still seems too flimsy...

    Thoughts on my flexing transom

I was afraid you guys would say that - but of course you are right. I'm still torn between a plate until I repower and just replacing the transom the right way this winter. I'm not sure that I want to tackle a transom rebuild myself though. I doubt I could do a decent job from the outside and...

    Thoughts on my flexing transom

So I have had my '89 V for about a year now. When I bought it I tapped around on the transom and it sounded solid but I don't have a practiced ear for just how solid it should sound. In the spring I mounted trim tabs so I drilled into the transom and the wood was what I would call damp. It was...
