Sounds like you had solenoid trouble if the bendix wouldnt jump out. You can replace the solenoid pretty cheap and easy. I've rebuilt a bunch of them.

I bought my last one from DB Electric. Haven't had any trouble with it, been on for about 12 years. They're out of Cherokee NC.

If its not too bad I'd leave it alone. If you try to bend it back without heating it good chance it will crack. My old lower unit skeg was bent alittle, never gave me any trouble. Aluminum is very brittle!

Yep, sounds like a float stuck or maybe trash in between the needle and seat not letting it close when the bowl is full. You can get a carb kit and go through it. Its not hard, really. Check the float, maybe saturated with gas making it too heavy, holding the needle open.

Caught a shark and a blue crab yesterday in the surf. Ocean and wind has calmed down some, still stirred up. My grandson caught a few mullet and a good size blue on Jeanette's pier this morning. Nothing biting now. Been cool and foggy since wednesday. Going back home tomorrow morning,gotta work...

Not much happening here. Theres a big low pressure off shore, wind whipping hard and surf rough. Tried surf fishing yesterday morning with 4 oz weights on bottom rigs, couldn't keep them out. NE wind kickin hard. Cloudy and misty rain this morning. Still beats working!

These old V20s really hold up well with little work. I think the sun is the worst thing for the gelcoat. I keep mine covered up when not in use. I used 3M fiberglass restorer and wax on mine and it works well, comes out shining like new.

Sorry, no pics. covered it back up until I can take it out. Working 12hr nights this week.

Nice catch! Still alittle early here in NC but they are catching nice Mahi off shore and bottom feeders inshore. Going on vacation next week at the Outer Banks. Hope the weather will let up enough to let us catch a few fish.
