    engine height

At the botom of the engine bracket there are 6 holes ( two rows of three ) on approx. a 45 degree angle, there is a stainless rod ( about 5/8" Diameter ) going through one of the holes to the other side of bracket with snap rings on each end to hold it in.

Well pulled the boat for the season today, upon inspection I found the cause of the rattle. A while ago I had a rattle and found out it was my trim rod rattling when I went over 2000 RPM's because the water was pushing up against it. I used 5200 all around where the trim rod goes through the...

    engine height

Thanks, I will try these changes, I'll check my lower unit oil, but I never had a problem with leaking, the reason I am wondering about the lower unit is that when I got this motor the mechanic told me it was a year newer than the rest of the motor. So I am wondering if something is loose or...

    engine height

Thanks, should I worry about the space there will be between engine bracket and the top of the transom ? I had my ear to the motor while running 3,000 RPM and I hear what sounds like a rattling, sounds like it is coming from the lower unit, could there be something going on down there to cause...

    engine height

Thanks, yeah when I am on plane it looks about 2" below the surface, You might have seen all my past posts trying to find out my RPM problem (4200 Max) and speed issue (32 MPH on GPS ), It sprays up water pretty good when going 4200 wondering if this could be creating drag, the pic's stink. Do...

I think my motor is too low, tons of spray when underway, Engine is mounted through the top hole 25" shaft, cav plate is under water when going fast, I can't see it. Here are some pics when i am going about 2000 RPM

    low idle adjustment

Thanks for that response, yeah adjusting the cable makes sense to me being that when my old mechanic had it for a repair the prop was not turning when in nuetral when I went to pick the boat up from him, so he just started turning the thumb nut until it turned freely in nuetral and also went...

    low idle adjustment

I have a 1994 150 HP V6 looper, she runs good but when in gear it seems it seems the rpm's are on the low side (400) once in a while when approaching a dock switching between gears it stalls. How do I adjust the low idle rpm?

    RPM's & Prop

You guys are scaring me, but I am not surprised with this guy. If it means anything, I did the test on a cold engine, only taking one plug out at a time, I did the test when I was troubleshooting my problem. At that point I had a bad ignition coil only firing on 5 cyl. I know this wasn't the...

    RPM's & Prop

Even if my tach is not accurate shouldn't I be going 40-45 MPH at full RPM with my setup. These are the numbers I have seen with similiar setups on this forum. I am running on all cylinders I just changed a bad ignition coil, so I have been through these checks, all butterflies open, compression...

The boat is light, recently rebuilt the whole transom and rear deck, totolly dry now.Checked the linkage at motor, it is maxed out. Engine height is OK the fin on...

    Finally fixed, RPM's still low

No, I'm not sure the best way to check. I have asked what the normal idle RPM for my motor is and Was told by users on this forum it should be around 700-900 which is what I have. Could my tach still be bad? do my speed and RPM numbers sound like they are on track ( 30 MPH @ 4000 )?

    Finally fixed, RPM's still low

Finally fixed motor, when the mechanic gave me a newer control box he spliced my harness and did a crappy job. The bl/ yw kill circuit wire was exposed int three spots and so was the yw / rd power wire. redid the whole thing " the right way " she runs better than ever real smooth, no shaking. I...
