Something ain't right. Way too slow. Prop, water in hull, trim, motor height for starters.

My 85 and 86 both had drain holes in the floor that drained into the bilge. If you get alot of water in the bilge, you'll get water coming up thru that hole. You can always plug the hole with a simple transom drain plug.

I'd recommend if you pull the lower unit, change the whole pump and not just a kit. If it still overheats, then I'd recommend flushing the water jackets with a descaler.
