    cruising the bay this weekend

Looks like a great day. Slinger, it looks like you're letting the boat fall apart. I see some rust around the screws on the bimini frame. If you're not going to maintain that boat like it should, ship it on down to Florida and I'll see what I can do. I sure do miss that smooth, dry ride...

    Happy Birthday Seacrets!

Thanks guys. As a matter of fact I did go fishing and scalloping. An added bonus, I got paid for it.

    Happy Birthday Seacrets!

Thanks guys. This is a pretty big day, but I'll be celebrating on October 14th when my first Social Security check comes. That's right 62. If I knew I was going to live this long, I would've taken better care of myself.

    1986 150hp to mudhole

No offense, but some people mistake 2-3' seas for 5-6 footers. I've owned two V20's and while out there, if it kicks up to 5-6' seas, you won't be pouring extra gas into your tank. Even 2-4 footers can be uncomfortable. Please be safe, 25 watt radio, good pfd's (not the West Marine $4.88...

    Accident report...

I agree. Last month had a snorkler killed by a pontoon boat w/ 12 people onboard. They got his body onboard and traveled 5 miles to a local marina. It was bad enough, but there were 6 children on the boat. He was within his dive flag. The guy said he just didn't see him.

    Conversion.

$5.00 a gallon? My marina gas is $3.05, and that's probably higher than some.

    scallop time

Taken charters out the last six days with 10 gallons each day. Ran a two boat trip last week and got 20 gallons and yielded 18 lbs of meat. They're big and fat this year. Business is great and the scallops are plentiful.

    Great pic!

I see there's a crack in the one speaker cover and the deck's a little dirty.

    External temp guage

I would also recommend a water pressure gauge. If I had a choice, I'd rather monitor pressure than temp. That's just a personal preference thing though..

    How fast should I get?

I don't think the idle setting will change the top end. I would say you should be running about a 17" pitch prop for good performance. Try a gps. The boat speedometers are highly inaccurate. I had a 150 merc on my V20 and I maxed out at 42 mph with a 17" pitch four blade prop. There's a...

    Sorry Guys

I would strongly recommend you sea trial a Carolina Skiff on a real snotty day before you make your decision. Take mama with you and hit the waves from all directions. See if there are plugs in the self bailing holes. If there are, pull them and see if it will self bail.

    Sorry Guys

Doing great. In the middle of scallop season (snorkeling for the little beauties). Trout and redfish are in the deeper grass flats, but good numbers. Take care Willie.

    Sorry Guys

Take it from a guy who owned two V20's and a Carolina Skiff (238 Semi V), the ride is much, much better than a Skiff. The new skiff you're looking at is a wide beam, 258 DLV with some cosmetics. I've spent alot of time in the 258 DLV's and they're not a good offshore boat. They will beat you...
