I already ordered the new one. I know the ring type don't last,i thought these may be a little better,since they were inside the transom,sounds like i was wrong.
I know the actuator rod is working so i will install the new sender and keep my fingers crossed.
I am trying to find a merc linear trim sender,pre rotary sender.
Does anyone know if you can still buy these new? I can't find one,i have seen used ones on ebay.

I have a pre alpha, "R" drive i believe, and it does not have the resevoir.
Is it worth adding,it screws into the upper vent i presume or is there an additional hole drilled in the gearcase?

Sounds like you are talking about trim fluid rather than gear oil,correct?
