    rebuilding my V

Yes that was for clearance for the splash well, remember the floor sits on the stringers and the deck drains into the splash well which drains out the back at least on my 81.

    many questions about repairing/replacing stringers

One thing I forgot to add in my post and that is in regard to the structural integrity of what you are doing. The fiberglass hull without stringers or cross members/bulkheads is very flexible. When you go over a wake or wave and smack one square on the backside and your teeth rattle your boat...

    many questions about repairing/replacing stringers

I would say realistically around 60 hours cutting and shaping wood, bevels for the scab pieces, routing the tops of the stringers, and glassing in but thats not counting the 100 hours I stared at it. Measuring was the worst part and figuring out how everything was going to go together. It was...

    repairing a bad repair

There isn't any wood in the strakes. You do have foam in that area of the hull. My guess is you probably have a few rod holders in your gunwale above that area as well. Probably been collecting in there over time. I agree with the fan idea along with a cover and dehumidifier. As far as the...

    many questions about repairing/replacing stringers

Man oh man, been where you are: http://wellcraftv20.com/community/showthread.php?t=17379&highlight=81+wellcraft+center+console All in all good advice you are getting. I would plan to tab in with more than 1 layer of tape. You will find that a layer of 1708 cured out is flexible, around 3 layers...

new member... recent 79 v20 cuddy purchase

When I tested my tank I tested at 3 psi. I personally wouldn't offer advice if I had not done the research. But don't take my word for it. http://www.uscgboating.org/regulations/boatbuilder_s_handbook/fuel_standards_partq.aspx

http://www.uscomposites.com/foam.html They sell the foam you would be looking for. You would use a 4 LB foam underneath the tank and 2 LB on the sides. When I set my tank I used some blues styrofoam squares to get the tank at my ideal height and distance from the sides. Then used large clamps...

Do not go any higher than around 3 PSI, 20 PSI would blow your tank to bits. Pump her up and see if she holds. One possibility is the PO thought the tank was leaking when it was really just the fuel level sensor seal that went bad. When mine went out you would have thought the tank was cut in...

    Finally starting CC Restoration

As far as drilling through that new transom I know the feeling. I didn't even want to drill the holes to mount the jackplate after all that work. Just treat it like an exterior portion of the boat. I overdrilled the holes. Loaded up some 6" paint rollers and kept swabbing the holes until there...

    Finally starting CC Restoration

Here is how I did my deck drains. I thought about going out the side but figured if I ever took on a good amount of water it would drain better going out the back if I could get up some speed.

Sorry for the late response Kracker but I think you will end up using it all.

    So Here She is

Yeah, It had a 60 gallon, I was able to get a 72 gallon in there since the cap was off and realistically probably could have gotten 100 or more if I gone the custom tank route.

    So Here She is

Thanks for all the kind words fellas! I had never been so nervous as that first trip back to the ramp. I've had her out about a dozen times now including twice about 50 miles offshore so its like old times. Even got a small scratch that didnt bother me. When not in the water I found a great...

    So Here She is

I ran strings through marked holes in the hull from the rub rail screws. I numbered the holes and wrote down the measurement from the edge of the hull to centerline of the stringer and the distance below the string to the top of stringer. I had other measurements but those were what I trusted...

    Keys Vacation - Islamorada

I've been going to Marathon first week of November for the last 32 years. This year I will be spending 2 nights in Islamorada during my annual stay, to get......(shrill screams) married. Glad that is early in our trip so I can enjoy the remainder.

    Stolen Rod #@*&!

Now for the tough part....I thought it was one of my new $1500 generators, turns out its one of the new $500 generators. Police report says $1500 and without correction this is now a felony rather than a misdemeanor. I'm just going to let the courts work out the value of the generator...

    Stolen Rod #@*&!

Last week I heard a car running in my shop at work, went out back to see which crew had showed up and what they were grabbing. Behold this massive zombie and his trailer trash girl loading up a generator into his Cherokee. I say "put that down!" and they take off in the jeep, I chase them ou...

    Now in the water

If I don't use premium fuel my motor misses. Maybe that or some old fuel? Also I have a Garmin 178C, works great, hopefully you have the chip for the area you fish. You can hook it into your VHF radio if your radio has DSC (can get for less than $150) and it will send out your coords if in an...
