    Well Boys.....its Daddy Time.....

Just went through the same thing 2 and half months ago. It is the MOST moving moment you'll ever have. Trust me, it isn't as bad as you might be thinking. Your wife will be going through the hard stuff. Good luck!

    new helm

Well, I got it done! New helm installed today, and I can steer again!!! It's still a little stiff, but it's nothing a little more heat and grease can't fix. It was REALLY EASY TOO!

    new helm

Well, I got the motor freed up enough to install the new helm. Any tips for installation in a CC? Looks very tight.

    Hello old friend!

I too love a good heart warming mushy story! That's so sweet....:) No, but seriously that's a cool story.

    steering is done

The steering cable is fine, the problem I was having was in the actual mount that the motor itself sits on. It has one zerk fitting. I disconnected the steering cable and I was having to use all my strength to push it from side to side. I started a regime of pumping grease in it, and spraying...

    Trailer bunk carpet

go to west marine, or look online for the plastic bunk slides. I've got them on my trailer and the boat jumps off the trailer when I un-hook it. You gotta be ready when you unhook the boat b/c it literally jumps off the trailer. Only cost about 20-30 dollars.

    Key Largo Boats????????????????????

Like ferm said, they aren't poorly built boats, just not real staute. Their 20 footers weigh no-where close to what a v weighs....about 2/3rds. So, they're not bad, but not great.

    Spray Rails

I'm just trying to keep water from riding up the reverse tumblehome our boats have. By adding 1 1/2 inches to the chine from about midships back will make a huge reduction in the amount of water that comes up the sides. It will also add lift to the hull, which is a lot cheaper than repowering...

    New tarp frame

I dunno monkey, you might should have put a spine down the middle with pvc too. I think if there is a weak point, it'll be a front to back failure, like dominos. Other than that, it looks strong as heck. It's a very strong shape. We use something similar here at the marina to cover some of our...

    steering is done

I got it freed up a little today while working in the rain. I can turn it side to side by pushing and pulling it with one arm. It still takes some umph though. I think it will be good for another season at least. I'll buy a new helm and continue to work on it to keep it loose and possibly get it...

    steering is done

monkey you're right it is NOT the steering cable. It is the pivot tube. It will turn when I push the motor, but it takes a lot of pressure to do it. It is a '92 200 merc. 2.5L. The bolts that hold it all together are just balls of rust, so if it comes down to taking it apart, I don't know if it...

    steering is done

Well, the steering cable is fine, it's the cylinder that the engine sits on that is stiff. My mech. said I need a new helm ($50-$60) but that would only work as long as I can get the engine turnning free again. With the cable un-hooked, it takes a LOT of muscle to turn the engine. I've loaded it...

    Spray Rails

The majority of the spray is taken care of by the flare, but you get a much better directional change with just a little bit extra chine. Plus it will give the V a larger planning area which will lift her a litte higher in the water which should give it a little more effeciencey(sp?). I...

    Spray Rails

Well, I figure if I'm gonna have the boat outta commision with the steering I might as well start on some more mods too. I've been wanting to do this for some time now, but never got the chance. I've got some length of teak that I am going to fashion into spray rails to install along the chines...

    steering is done

Well, I dropped the boat in the H2O this morning to make sure everything was in working order for our annual lighted flotilla in Wrightsville Beach, and I noticed the steering was a little sticky. So I grabbed the grease gun and did the normal routine. Well, during the course of steering back...

The reason for all the passionate comments on here is due simply to love of this great country. A love that runs deep, and when we see things happening to our country that we know in our hearts and soul to be detramental to ALL of us, we get frustrated and upset. I'll appologize if I pissed...
