Questions about I/o to outboard conversion

Thanks Ridge! I was hoping I braced it up enough! I ended up using 3 pieces of 3/4" plywood with glass in between for the transom with 4 3/4" braces It was good talking to you at the shop. You have a lot of knowledge on these boats. Your boat looks amazing man! Kinda inspired me to keep going...

Questions about I/o to outboard conversion

Well I'm making some progress. Old transom cut out and new wood already cut to go in. Going to use 2 layers of 3/4 inch ply laid up with several layers of csm and 1708. Also going to run 2 small knee braces from the outer stringers up to the new section of transom and 2 more larger knee braces...

Questions about I/o to outboard conversion

Agreed! Just never really been a huge fan of I/o boats I bought this one because the wife liked it and the price was right. Since then I've put a lot of money in it and with this set back I figure I might as well make it the way I want it. Would be awesome if ferm or any of the other fla members...

Questions about I/o to outboard conversion

Yeah I've thought about just buying another boat with the money but my boat is in pretty good shape and around here for less than 5k your not getting much especially this time of year. The boats I've seen lately for 3500-5000 have been pretty old with old power as well. Just figured I'd get a...

Questions about I/o to outboard conversion

Also I noticed in looking at old threads that some including mj replaced the transome to seal the outdrive hole I've seen others where a plug was made for the hole and the transom was left intact otherwise. Is there a reason on these hulls to replace the transom or will just plugging the hole...

Questions about I/o to outboard conversion

Well after deciding not to sell my boat earlier this year I started some repairs on it then as luck would have it I blew the engine last week.... Damn the luck.... Well I've decided that the main reason I wanted to sell it earlier this year is that I'm a outboard guy and now I have the perfect...

    1983 v20 $3000

Granted I havnt had to change a battery but you have access to everytging in that area through the top hatch covers that are right on top in the back. I think the seats block the view of the covers I'm talking about in that picture.

    1983 v20 $3000

Thinking about selling my cuddy and getting something smaller. We rarely use it anymore and it's just too big for the lake we live on. It's an 83' model I/o with a 350 260hp. Ran great last time we were out exhaust manifolds and risers were replaced 1 1/2 years ago and have only been in the salt...

    Converting cuddy to cc

Yeah I'm still not really sure what I'm going to do I've been trying to sell mine to buy a cc but no ones really biting guess it's the time of year. I never thought of leaving the cuddy up front and adding the cc midship like that that actually looks pretty good! I'll have to give that some...

    Converting cuddy to cc

Has anybody here ever converted a cuddy to a cc? I know it's a big undertaking but here lately I've really been wanting a cc but I've put so much work into my boat that I don't really want to let it go completly and I think it would be cool to have a I/O center console. I thought about selling...

Advice on recoreing area above cuddy

I've herd of a few people doing this but can't seem to find much info on what's involved. Can anyone give me some insight on this? The area over the cuddy on my v is kind of weak and sometimes I have to climb on it when retrieving the anchor and docking it's a little unnerving. Is this a job...

    GMC sonoma.....

They're good trucks the 4.3 is a solid engine if it's the v6 model it's essentially a 350 v8 with two cylinders choped off. They aren't going to be great on gas. That being said I'd rather have the Yukon with the 6.0
