    Prop Selection

Your current prop crosses over to a entry level, 3 blade, 18 pitch aluminum prop. Most any 3 blade cheap stainless prop in a 17 pitch would be a good choice for that engine to start with. Anytime you change props, even to a prop of the same part number, you can change your wide open RPM's or top...

    Snow!

I HATED driving in snow in my BURB. Even in 4x4 it still slid all over the place. You can't just drive on a slick road in something that weighs 7K+ without it sliding around. I know most curse ABS, but I was sure glad I had it. I never believed just how quickly you could lose traction on just a...

What's this snow stuff? Down here that normally refers to white powder that some snort up there nose.

    sidescan transducers

Check into running dual transom mount transducers. I know hummingbird had a cable that allowed you to run one mounted outboard of the hull on either side, and they plugged into a y cable that plugged into the head unit. This way dual outboards wasn't an issue.

    Outboard horsepower

V-21's were 200HP, and I believe v-20's were 235HP for the later ones while earlier models were 200HP. Then there was I/O's which went to 250HP I believe.

    Stator question

All of the 35 amp stators leak after 2-3 years, just how they are. The only thing you do need to watch for is that the black goop doesn't get into the timer base, and cause it to stick. I've seen that happen which will make it run poorly up top because the timing wouldn't fully advance...

    Stator question

I highly doubt it has anything to do with it. It's the charging system side that drips out, the ignition charge coil, and S.L.O.W. coils are part of the stator, but sealed seperately. And these aren't like Mercs with a low speed and a high speed charge coil, they use just 1 coil to charge the...

1996 Wellcraft V21 Suzuki 140 4 stroke clean cuddy Lots of Pictures

I don't have alot of 4 stroke experience(I'm a 2 smoker kind of guy), but everybody I've talked to about propping them said you want them with a light to average load to spin right up to the max rated RPM, or an extra 100. My skiff propped from the factory spun up to almost 6200, and it's rated...

    Stator question

They ALL do it. I had one that was still going 5 years after I had 1st seen it dripping, and it was still going. It only seems to happen to the 35 amp stators, and it's the charging side that leaks out. On the smaller stators they encased them in plastic, and you never had much trouble with them...

1995 Merc 200HP - its not broke. Should I fix it?

I don't see anything abnormal. Those reeds still look really good IMO. The buildup of carbon is completely normal, and occurs on any throttle blade assembly that runs dry. Cleaning it is part of an induction service that shops reccomend be performed every 30K miles in a road going engine.

    Winterizing question

I would fog through the intake if it was mine. That way you get a protective coating on the internal rotating assembly as well as the pistons/rings. You should clean the O2 in the spring, but I wouldn't think fogging it would kill one.

1996 Wellcraft V21 Suzuki 140 4 stroke clean cuddy Lots of Pictures

If you go larger diameter, you need to step down in pitch normally due to a larger prop hooking up better. Larger diameter props have MANY advantages IMO, but top speed is not one of them. Me personnally, I was always willing to sacrifice 1-3 mph top end to get all the other advantages that a...

    350 mercruiser fuel economy

The heads don't care what cam you run. GM ran a roller cam because they were trying to get max flow from minumum lift which worked great with the LT type runner of the vortec heads since they flow nearly 95% of there available flow at .400 lift, so more lift wasn't needed(hence the puny...

That's why I traded mine for my Sundance B20. I need a flat bottom to float shallow where I like to go, but needed something with some V in the bow to cut some of the chop instead of just pounding.

Little knocking sound when giving a little throttle

Theres a good chance your shift linkage is out of adjustment or the shift cable going out to the leg is sticking or bad. You're probably hearing the clutch dogs touching from your description. Get it looked at as you do not want to damage the clutch dogs, if you do, it won't stsy in gear under...

1995 Merc 200HP - its not broke. Should I fix it?

Doing the reeds shouldn't hurt, but avoid the boyesen 2 piece ones at all costs. I ran Tony Dukas Racing reeds, but Chris Carson I've heard makes some good ones too. The boyesons being a 2 piece design are just to thin, and WILL warp. I'm not much help on the brocato ecu, never messed with one...
