MJ - think I got the resize figured out now - just did the 75% reduction in photobucket - thanks RP - Its all a BIG project, I'll post this or that as I move along. Then do a before and after gallery when I get my account. It's pretty well stripped and lookin for paint as we speak.

    Rod Box repair pic's

Got the photobucket account and can now share. Like many of you, the side rod boxes on my 82 came with splits and/or crackes. Here is my repair of one of several spots. Fiberglass tape on the back side, also taped around the whole perimiter. Same spot - filled, sanded, and painted - with...

    Trailer Bunk Replacement

Rp - Pulled the original pedestal and found that it was attached from the underside with T-nuts. They had done the job there and I'm sure there is a lot of stress being applied as people rock back and forth in the seat.

    Trailer Bunk Replacement

Just did mine. If your going with bolts, you might try 'T-nuts'. They have virtually no profile to countersink especially after tightening and carpeting over. I'm going to lag though. Carpet - Got it a HD. Paid .44 per sq ft (3.96 per sq yd) It is on 12' rolls and they'll cut it to what you...

    Bow Rail Shine

The foil sounds crazy, just crazy enough for me. Tried it and it made more improvement than anything else. I don't think that 'new' shine will ever be back, but much better. The whitish etched look is gone and it is now a clean darker uniform flat gray. Looks pretty good next to the fittings...

    Bow Rail Shine

Also, I've got pic's to post and a gallery request in. Is the only way, to open a photobucket account and transfer them there and back out? That seems to be the deal as is wrighten in the 'how to' section. Pete

    Bow Rail Shine

Tried steelwool, bartenders friend, brasso, a little 600 paper on a inobvious spot, and anything I could think of. Do you think it was chrome plated and that the plating is gone? I see the shine in the area that was under the old fittings. I really thought this would be a simple quick shine...

    Bow Rail Shine

My 82 is getting new SS fittings for the bow rail. I thought shining up the rail itself would be a snap. But have had no luck - it's not pitted just dull or maybe an etched, whiteish look. Any ideas or experience is appreciated. Same with the wind shield frame. Need some aluminum majic.

Great job - Shicks. What is the paint and how did you put it on? What are you using for the cockpit floor?

I went and did it now!

Girlfriend leaves for Vegas on Wednesday - Boyfreind buys boat on Thursday. Coincidence ?! I think not! Well I just pulled in the drive with an 82 cuddy! Sold my 29 sport cruiser this spring but still had the itch. Dad had a newer (back then) V20 when I was in school and I'm familiar with this...

    Transom seat pics?

I've seen hardware on the cockpit floor of some v-20s that I think is for some sort of support for a transom seat. Does anyone have a good photo of the hardware and the seat as it fits? I think it's used for a full transom or for split seats in an I/O. How well does this set up work? Any info is...

    Ice blue paint

Hey Stinky - thought we might be seeing that ice blue hull about now. How's it coming along. I'm excited to see it - I think it'll look sweet.

    The Hooker's wearin paint!!

Great! The transformation with paint amazes me. You need shades 8) with that gloss. What paint did you use and how did you apply it? What are you doing with the sides, top, and deck? Still thinking ice blue? What were your thoughts overall on the painting process? Great work

    New guy here

Thanks for the input guys. I don't know if I'm encouraged or discouraged now! ;D Sounds like a love-hate relationship, but definately leaning to the positive side for most of you. As far as being nuts, if that's part of the requirement, I might be just the guy for this job! Thanks again

    New guy here

Been lurking around and reading. What a great sight and great bunch of folks. Well - I sold my 29' cruiser, along with some other life changes! Now I'm ready for "plan B" - (not a bad name for the next boat!) Growing up, my father had a V20 and now I'm looking. I do my fishing/boating on Lake...
