Ok first. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.
this is what I need to know. I was in Walmart the other day and was looking at a fishing rod. It sells for $85.00
I really want it. It’s a nice rod. Do I need it? Absolutely not. I have about 100 rods now. My wife who never 3ver tells me not to get any5hing I want ,tells me. DON’T buy it. Use what you have. And honestly she is right ,but I reely want it.
So this is it. I will do what ever you guys tell me to do. You say buy it. I will buy it. You say don’t I will not buy it.
So it’s in your hands. I would like. to get at least five reply’s.
So that’s it. HERE WE GO.

DO NOT BUY IT!!! This close to Christmas you never know what our foamily may have already bought for you as a present... and with your wife saying DON'T BUY IT so forcefully it sounds to me like she may have already bought it. I can be wrong, but why take the chance? Christmas is one a few days away. See what Santa brings you first.
 
Yup, D nailed it, and if you don’t get it for Christmas, it’ll probably be there after, and maybe even on sale cheaper.

Ok I will wait till after Christmas but no body knows what rod ( including my wife ) I want.
So after Christmas should I get it myself or don’t buy it and use one of the many rods that I already have? But I reely like the rod.
I will check the update after Christmas. So is that. 3 yeses. To buy it after Christmas?
 
I say, recycle one. Give it to a pal or a youngster that deserves it. Then wait until day after tomorrow to decide on what to do about remaining at the 100 mark..🤔
 
Scook, will it make me fish better! I hope so but I would be very happy holding it plus I think it will be a great tog and fluke rod. In shallow water I would say up to 25 feet deep.
It’s a 7 foot carbon ugly stik. It’s red in color. Check it out fast tip med/ heavy I have a bunch of rods that I love but 1 more can’t hurt
Do I need it? N. O. But I want it. I must hav3 bought 4rods this year two ugly stiks. One Walmart brand. I don5 know the name nice rod. Another bait casting rod the name escapes me
The one I bought that’s a Walmart brand was made for women. Light,sensitive and good looking but I didn’t l8ke that it said made for women SO I got acetone and rubbed it off. Now I can use it
 
I hope you did, or will, buy it. You love to fish, appreciate cool stuff, and it’s only $85 (or maybe less after Christmas). It’s not like you’re buying another V20 or a new truck.
 
I was at Walmart yesterday and was checking the rod out again ( for the tenth time) as of now I still didn’t buy it. The answers I got from all of you is to wait,,, I will wait But I think I am going to go with Scook. I like what he said. I love to fish. I reely l8ke that rod and it’s not l8ke I’m buying a new car. It’s a fishing rod. True I do have more then I can use but I appreciate quality and all my older rods ,I mean rods that are over 40 years old I still cherish them with great memories.
So my answer is this. I’m waiting till next year ( coming in two days). But I’m probably going to get it.
If you want to know. It’s a 7 foot ugly stik. Carbon. Spinning rod. $85.00 at Walmart and every where else $100.00 plus.
I will keep you informed on OUR decision.

Good point about memories - I still have the old fiberglass trolling and trout spinning rods from when I was a pretty young kid fishing with my dad. It’s nice to look at them and remember those times, but they don’t go with me when I hit the river.
 
I have a Shakespeare wonder rod and remember fishing in north Bergen park for carp with my sons when this cop drove by and ran over the very end of the butt and crushed it. I cut off the damaged part and still gave it today. And every time I look at that rod I get mad at what that cop Did. I will never get rid of it. I hav3 tons of memory’s with my rods.

Tackle hoarding is a disease I know too well...lol when I get the urge to buy another rod or reel I take a trip out to the garage and find an old similar one that I had forgot about and the urge usually goes away! Happy new year everyone!
 
I was asking should I or don’t buy. Th3 ugly stick Carbon rod? Well every time I go to Walmart I check it out and I have decided ( as of now ) Not to buy it. I have a gander mountain rod that I rescued out of the garbage destined to be destroyed ,it’s in great shape and the look and action is almost the same if not better. So I’m not bu6ing the ugly stik I’m going against my instincts and using what I have for now. And ctmv20 I hear you. LOUD AND VERY CLEAR. and thanks for all the reply’s. It’s nothing special but I think it will be an awesome fluking rod or bluefish rod. Even stripers. Just an all around light,strong rod.
It is an ugly stik carbon. It’s a red rod. I like the spinning version. 7 foot or the 6’6. They are both very nice. You can see it on the web or if you go to Walmart just pick out the red rod. $85.00 but if you need a heavier rod. Check out the ugly stik GLX2 I have that one.
I also have an ugly stik hat that I have for over 30 years more close to 40 years old that I bought for $1.00 in Atlantic City on the board walk when my wife was gambling. So yeah,I keep my stuff and my hat is NOT FOR SALE. lol 😂 p.s. I still wear it today when fishing
I am thinking about the rod. If the price comes down even a little bit. I will buy it.i know if I buy the rod I probably will not even use it but who knows. I have so many rods. But I reely like it.
 
Did you guys see that ugly stick add years ago where the guy’s sitting, I think eating breakfast, and his wife’s abusing his fishing rod, bends it into a pretzel, crams it in the trash compactor, starts the mashing cycle and stomps out yelling “You are absolutely, positively NOT going fishing today”. He waits for the door to close, takes his undamaged rod out and goes fishing. I think it was after that when I bought my ugly stick Salmon pole😎
