Enricher valve

Can I clean my enricher valve that’s mounted on my 150 hp 1988 mercury outboard?
The reason is that it’s very hard to start when it’s the first time. I hear the click but it’s very very low
How can I know if it’s working?

Have you checked the compression on all the cylinders? U might be chasing a fuel problem that doesn't exist.

Ostep no I didn’t check the compression honestly. I don’t wan5 to know. My engine runs great you just touchn5he key and she starts right up it’s only the initial start. Cranks and cranks. When I here a pop then I know she is going to start
I would think that if the compression is bad she wouldn’t run so good. I don’t want to open a box that I cant close. I’m looking at the easiest thing. Spark yes. Air yes. Fuel ? She is getting fuel

U need compression too. I think u can get a tester at harbor freight. Just pull the plugs and wide open throttle and test.
Do you have a service manual? Should tell u how to check enricher . I had a 175 merc thst was similar to yours. But I can't remember how to check them other than a click.

I have a similar merc 150 2s, has yours always been hard to start or did it just start acting up? Mine is hard to start after sitting for a few weeks, but once warmed up it restarts fine. I have the older controls but for cold starts first prime the fuel bulb, raise advance lever, crank with key pressed in until engine starts. Repeat cranking if needed.
