What to do when the water is turned off?

I hav3 my boat in nj at a marina. They will turn 5he water off soon if not now. I always wash an$ flush my engine when I come back but now what to do when the water is off.
What do you guys and girls do ? Is it that important to flush the engine when used in salt water?

Good question, and I don't have a good answer. I flush my engine religiously after every use, using the marina's water hose. On the other hand, my friend in south Florida never flushes his twin engines and he uses his boat a lot more than I do and hasn't had any issues.

Step, I didn't have that problem - I had a Merc I/O - My friend had his V20 in the creek behind his house - So he had water whenever he wanted
As Pipe said, that's a good question - I'm surprised no one jumped in on this - We were lucky at my Marina when I had my boat - They didn't shut the water off until the first frost 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇺🇸

May have to rig something up to flush that motor. I’ve gotten more accustomed to working without power and thus have had to improvise. I’m damn lucky to have fresh water to run thru on my way back to home base. It’s brackish where I’m at. To me it is extremely important. Done every single time at the end of a salt water journey. Even with proper flushing I’ve seen some corrosion issues with well respected manufacturers

So what’s the answer? I’m sure a lot of people don’t worry about that but I do
Not only flushing the engine but to hose off the trailer and clean the hull too. It sucks cause the blackfish are hitting so close to my marina.
Is your V in the water or on a stand or trailer?
On a trailer. I asked the security guard and he said when they turn off the water. It’s off everywhere in the marina

Ask the Guard, how does he flush his toilet?

Since it’s on a trailer, can u haul it to a coin operated car wash?

I know New Jersey is famous for their full service gas stations, pull it there and pay the guy $40-$50 bucks to use the water hose for 30 minutes

we had to mix a lot of Sakrete bags on my job. Had a plastic 55 gallon drum that we laid in the bed against the cab. I plumbed a pressurized marine wash down pump into it. Powered it with 12 vt jump box. Worked great, had a regular garden hose on it with a spray nozzle. Pump put out about 40 PSI. You’d be surprised how long 50 gallons will last.

As far as flushing. 32 gallon Brute Rubbermaid trash can makes a great flush vat. Get a 35 gallon plastic drum to fill it
If u do use a tub to flush, remember your exhaust is heating up your water, don’t flush too long.
Not gonna be a cheap remedy , but doable,

Just tossing ideas

i just called the marina and was told. No water on. But I will check other ways. Gas station, car wash. Cmon man. No water. That’s terrible at a marina. But they are quick to take your money

I would rig something up. Ibc tote or 55 gallon drum. Camper 12 volt water pump. No way I would run in salt water and not flush out.
Or if its on trailer tow it home and flush.

Step, they have to shut the water off to all the slips - Once the temps drop below freezing the pipes will burst - What they do is shut the water, then go and open up all the valves on the slips to let out all the excess water so nothing will freeze - I've seen it happen - The ones who trailer their boats might be able to go and ask the marina if they could flush out their motors using their water - They always have water available for them
Again, just my lousy 2 cents - G 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

Giorgio I hear what you’re saying and I asked the office if any outlet was on so that I could flush my engine. They said. No. No water anywhere in the marina. The only good 5hing is it’s getting cold out and d3cember is almost here @nywsy. But they are quick thing that sucks is 5hat the black fish are so close and I’m @00 percent sure that it is very good now. And I can’t get 5o them. I really appreciate your advice. I always look forward to what you say. You’re a good guy. Hav3 a very happy thanksgiving to you and your family

Step, I don't know about your marina, mine was open 24x7 - There were people who lived on their boats - Guy's who left their boats in until late December - I did one year when we had a real mild one - They pulled me, turned on their water to power wash my boat - Done - They liked if the boats that were to come out, were out by Thanksgiving - They knew who the fisherman were so they didn't break our balls to get out - Just as long as our Winter storage fee was paid - Thanks for the kind words - You, your family - Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃🦃🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
