1986 Wellcraft 180 fisherman fuel question

I can’t figure out what the fitting is under the fitting where you put fuel in the tank it looks like a garden hose will fit on it but not sure what it’s used for I can send photos if needed

Sounds like the vent hose for the tank.

Like phat said it could be a vent line. But if you can post a picture that would be helpful.
One other thing. When you fill the gas tank if you put your ear by the fitting can you hear the fuel going in?
