Headed down Thursday - Sunday for a long weekend. Took the boat out Friday morning around high tide just before noon, the 6 of us fished about 4 hours around the jetties. Sheephead were biting pretty good. Caught around 15, but only 2 keepers. Also caught a 15" flounder that had to go back. Both of our daughter's BF's went. They are both greenhorns but got the hang of it pretty quick.

Daughter and 2 sheepshead. (She does not have green hair, just the lighting LOL)

Hey Blue, fishing with family & friends last weekend - Nothing better and you even caught some thing to eat - Well Done - Great picture of your daughter, all smiles and with that smile - I would bet she caught those two convicts - :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: - Green hair, no one cares what color it is, it's hair and grows back - 😂 😂 - 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

Thanks G, you are right she caught both of those and over half of all fish caught.....she's a better fisherman than me for sure!

One thing I notice all the time look at fishermen or fisherwomen’s face when fishing. They are always smiling. I love that. Did you ever see a fisher person holding up Fish and they look mad? Never. I bet those sheepshead’s are a good fighting fish too. I love it. We don’t get them in nj but I have seen them using barnacles to chum with and bait. Don’t tell anyone.

heading to Sneads Ferry this weekend, probably wont have time to fish, I'll be working on the house, may drop the 'Searona" in the water for a quick ride though.

Step, you don't get them in New Jersey, you sure, because we catch them in Jamaica Bay, right by Floyd Bennett field using crabs. That's where I've seen them caught, all around the pilings, I never caught one, never fished for them. On light tackle they look like fun to catch and are good eating, I am told. What I was surprised at was, we never caught one while black fishing the same area, strange, maybe they don't like green crabs? 😂 A friend of mine say's he uses Blue claws for bait, not sure if I would want to give up a nice Linguine and Blue claw dinner or baked Blue claws for convicts.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Again just my lousy 2 cents:eek:🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

Giorgio you know something , I’m like you ,I n3ver tried to fish for them either , maybe I am going to this year bu5 I can’t see why they won’t eat green crabs , they should b3 in 5he same area as tautogs and sea bass. If I get one I will post it on this site. I fish in raritan bay from sandy hook to Keyport and beyond.

Step, I fished Raritan also, my boat was in Great Kills. Two of my friends had their boats in Jamaica Bay and I grew up in Canarsie and then East New York, so it was fishing in Jamaica Bay. I was 16 when I got my first boat, It was an 18 ft lapstrake Penn Yan which I kept in Broad Channel. In jaws 2 the skier was being towed by what looked like my boat, same color. That was too much wood for me, caulking it every year sucked and lets not even talk about painting the bottom 😂 😂 Where do you Striper fish in Raritan? 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

I fish around the ammo pier,Flynn’s knoll off the point of the hook but my son wants to fish for stripers in the back. But answering your question. I like the hook and Flynn’s knoll. I don’t go to far.
People want to travel far to go fishin* but I know the fish are usually very close to home. Like blackfish fisherman travel ( me too) want to go out for blackfish but I found an area so close to the dock that hold fish. Blackfish, fluke ,stripers and weakfish. So close it’s crazy. I can’t say cause I don’t want to give it away but if you ever fish my area let my know and I will show you

Step, thanks - But I'm done fishing, now I'm handicapped, my fishing day's are memories. I know the Romer Shoal Light use to be a great Striper spot, I haven't heard any thing about it for years, have you? I fished West Bank, buoy 17, just off the Ambrose, on the bay side, in 18' 25' of water, in May. Nice Stripers there, always had fish. It's still productive, because I see some of the party boats and six packers still fish it. I caught my personal best back then, 38 pounds, I know it's not that big, but it was for me, that's when we were able to keep one fish under 38" and one over 40", I think it was 38" - Enjoy the season - 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇺🇸
