Hi There! Old V-20 ('74) that I don't know what to do with.

Hello there!

I'm a long time lurker of this forum. First time poster. I'll try my best to not ramble too much.

Since I was a kid my step-dad always had this V-20 step-lift. I first learned how to boat on it and went on a few fishing trips with him on it. Fast forward a few years and he (finally) upgraded to a bigger boat, and I bought it off him. I reconditioned it for myself, got it a slip and used it for a few years. Then stopped using it. And it's been sitting since (about 3-4 years).

I think it's time for it to move on as its never going to get better just sitting there. I have no plans to recondition it again. But quite honestly I have no idea what its worth (if anything), so I figured i'd post here and get an opinion from some strangers (also I did not want to break the rules posting in classifieds with no post history).

1974 Wellcraft V-20 Step Lift side console. It has a Johnson 115 2 stroke outboard on the back.

The trailer is fairly new. Step-dad bought it not long before I bought the boat from him.

The outboard runs, but the lower unit is not good. It came out of the water before the end of the season for that reason. I did put a new stock oilier pump on it right before the lower unit failed. I don't think it is the outboard that came originally with the boat, but I could be wrong.

All the windows are in good condition. The bow rail is there and still seems good too. It also has the original bimini top frame. I dont think the fabric on it is original, but close enough to the original.

I'm sure there is a bunch of other info missing. But I just wanna post this to see if there is even any intrest. I included some photos of when I was using it. In case they solve any questions

If you made it to the end thanks for reading. Have a great day/evening!

Hey STRGZR, welcome! The best thing about those early 70's IMO was the wide open deck for fishing. I see you have a couple of coolers on either side that double for seating, nice setup. The negatives, besides age, are 20" transom, deck is not self-bailing, and dual "saddle" fuel tanks. I think the tanks are 20 g each = 40 gallons. Newer models had 60 g belly tanks for a 1/3 more range.

If you are not planning to use the boat any longer, I agree a smart move would to let her go to someone where she can be brought back and enjoyed.

If the lower unit cannot be repaired I'm sure there are some used OEM lower units for the 115 johnson floating around out there as those older Johnson 2 strokes were pretty popular.

Good luck with it and again, welcome to the V20 forum.
