Take a hammer and tap the wood around the transom plate,it should have a solid ring to it,if it has a dull thud, this job just got big

if its not the shift cable bellows, then its probably the exhaust tube where it bolts to the transom plate. If its leaking between the plate and the transom, youve got bigger issues
