Thanks for the comments guys. For whatever reason I quite getting auto replies when people post to this thread. For those commenting on the teak...that was the easiest part. $180 worth of teak from ebay. $40 of Sikkens and a table saw!

    Another V20 Restoration completed

I have another thread that started with our dismantling the boat but it lost interest and meandered a bit. For those who are curious I'll include some links to a gallery with 300 photos showing the play by play of deck and stringer removal along with this gallery of the boat complete... 1988...

anyone got high resolution artwork of this graphic?

Hello, We are close to finishing the restoration on our 1988 V20 and a buddy of mine is working some new graphics into the project. We need this original Wellcraft logo as seen here: http://garzonstudio.com/i/wellcraft_decals_set.jpg Google doesn't turn up anything higher resolution then...

    many questions about repairing/replacing stringers

Thanks for the comments...we just got the 2nd coat of durabak on the topside tonight...we are pretty much Durabak jr experts now if anyone has any questions on that product and how to apply it correct...I could write a whole blog but don't have the desire at this point. But we do have some good...

    many questions about repairing/replacing stringers

Thanks. We are 100% done on stringers, floor, fill and sand. We will be "rolling" textured durabak this week on the floor and smooth durabak on center console and gunnel. Once dry it will be remounting t-top and hardware.

Manny, Checking out your post on your rebuild...a few questions. 1. When you said you used the "rubber stuff" to coat the floor what did you mean...durabak or hurculiner? (which we are considering) or something else? Smooth or textured? 2. What did you paint your center console with...are you...

Liam, We got our floor installed and fiberglass laid tonight with 1708. I'm a bit concerned how textured the 1078 & resin will leave the floor...knowing how it was on the stringers. Do many builders put another coat of resin down to level out the rough nature the 1708? We are going to put a...

    many questions about repairing/replacing stringers

OK, it was a long Sunday but the floor is in and we peanut buttered all the gaps. As you can see from the photos we created a "lip" for the new floor to sit on top of as it touches the permitter of the old floor. We took 2x4 and resined them and glued/wood deck screwed them into the glass and...

    ain't got no guard plate!

I should add for those posting their experience/opinion...where I live (Ohio/Lake Erie) if you get boarded the will look for this plate...they don't mess around in my parts!

    ain't got no guard plate!

OK, CAM got me looking and I found several websites that will reproduce them for $20 or so...not bad if they will hold up. I got a buddy who would make something indestructible but the layout time could be a pain. So we can make our own if we got the specs and CAMs photo helps. Only thing I...

    ain't got no guard plate!

In the middle of restoring a 1988 V20 center console...my partner just pointed out that there is no coast guard certification/occupancy plate on the boat...nor can we even determine where there would have been one if it had fallen off! Anyone have any ideas on... Where it should have be...

    many questions about repairing/replacing stringers

Thanks for the input... The acetone works great...but I just don't know what damage it can do. By evap'ing to quick do you mean it's gone before it can do the work? I'll have a look for the other products... If you burn gel coat it's pretty obvious even to an untrained eye. This is clearly...

    many questions about repairing/replacing stringers

How do you feel about acetone on the gelcoat since it's doing the best? Any first hand knowledge or experience? Tried goo gone, west marine adhesive remover as well as the industrial citrus cleaner we use for adhesives at work. Will consider the difference acid but just went out and tested the...
