1970 Wellcraft V-20 Project

This was a 1970 V-20 with a 1979 200hp Evinrude I bought from Eckerd College waterfront program that needed a lot of work so here it is...

This is what I saw first to make me drive down to Flordia and get it.

This was what it looked like before I bought it. They did'nt know if the engine worked but they said the hull was good, boy were they wrong.

checking out the transom but it turned into a can of worms. I couldn't belive that all of the plywood in the boat was just 4"x4" squares glassed together even the transom was peiced together. They must of had a deal with a wood scrap yard.

I started by cutting a 2 foot section from the back and saw the stringers were gone so I kept working forward until I got to solid wood.

as you can see the bulk heads were rotted also the boat took a pretty hard hit in the front because it had a crack down one of the steps on the hull and that impact broke the stringer in half which let the water in and rot take over, not to mention Florida carpenter ants got into the wood stringers and transom.
